Gladiator is a combat class that comes equipped with a Trident. Their special ability, which increases bounties of sucessfull players makes them ideal for hunting high value targets. Their Trident is enchated with Riptide III, which disables its throwing function but gives them very high maneuverability. They spawn with a Golden Apple, which gives them an unique combat advantage and makes them very strong in 1v1 battles. Note that because Gladiator doesn't have an axe, using shields is very effective.

Gladiator doesn't get a pickaxe and an axe, which makes them ill-suited for capturing many flags.

For balance reasons, Gladiator cannot equip elytra.

See Bounty for more information.

Gladiator has an innate ability, which increases the scaling factor of players that are killed by them by 0.2. This only applies for that one death. As a consequence, killing players with killscore greater than 2.2 nets Gladiator more points than for others. On the other hand, it slightly decreases bounties for players with small (less than 2.2) killscores.

Visualisation of Gladiator's bounty bonus. Full lines are without bonus, dotted are with bonus. Only 5 classes are displayed for clarity.

Gladiator can never equip elytra.

Tips

Gladiator should consider giving low value kills to their allies, since their bounty has very fast scaling.

Getting an axe, either from crafting, loot or other players, should be a high priority task for the Gladiator, since they have no other way of dealing with shields.
